Our pottery creations are made with a variety of clay bodies including red and white stoneware clay as well as porcelain, after the pieces are hand thrown on our potters wheel, the pieces are covered to dry very slowly for several days, them they are trimmed and hand carved, covered to dry again slowly for 4 to 7 days and then fired in a ceramic kiln for 8 hours reaching a temperature of approximately 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit, this first fire is called bisque fire, we let the pieces cool down for at least 24 hours and then glazed with home made glazes to prepare the pieces to a second fire for 7 hours reaching a temperature of approximately 2,200 degrees Fahrenheit, this fire is called glaze fire.
Most of the glazes we use are home made, mixing a variety of ingredients and following a detailed process and recipe, also some of clay we use are a mix of different clay bodies to achieve a unique and one of a kind look
